GoCo expands its top-rated employee onboarding platform with even-better support for remote I-9 compliance

GoCo.io, a leading provider of cloud-based employee onboarding solutions, today announced new enhancements to its remote I-9 verification feature, in support of companies that need to physically inspect I-9 documentation for remote employees.

While the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) previously announced flexible COVID-19 policies, allowing companies to defer physical Form I-9 verification, those policies are set to expire on August 31, 2021. And with many businesses choosing to extend remote or hybrid workplace models indefinitely, many companies are scrambling for remote-friendly solutions for I-9 compliance.

With GoCo’s new remote I-9 compliance feature, companies can designate a one-time physical verifier for each employee, or allow each employee to choose their own one-time verifier. GoCo will automatically notify the verifier, collect the necessary information, and auto-generate Form I-9 for each new hire.

“GoCo has always been the go-to platform for automating employee onboarding, but over the past 18 months, we’ve been working hard to adapt our onboarding workflows to the ‘new normal’ where our clients are hiring new employees without ever meeting them in person,” said Michael Gugel, Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder of GoCo. “Our clients helped us shape this feature into an A+ experience for companies that are hiring remotely, while maintaining Form I-9 compliance.”
