The Association for Talent Development (ATD) and AI expert Josh Cavalier announce a new collaboration that will bring AI content and education to ATD’s global community.
In collaboration with Cavalier, the Applying AI in Learning and Development Certificate is a new three-day program in ATD’s course portfolio to help TD professionals master learning experience design by using generative AI in their design and delivery efforts. The course will explore how AI impacts skill development and human performance and will equip learners—through hands-on training—with the skills to transform their learning and development (L&D) approach with generative AI.
A pioneering leader in the L&D field with more than 30 years’ experience, Cavalier is a highly respected voice in the industry. ATD is the world’s largest association dedicated to supporting professionals in talent development and offers more than 200 courses that focus on the professional development of TD practitioners.
The course leverages Cavalier’s deep insights in AI and L&D, which are also included in his new ATD book Applying AI in Learning and Development: From Platforms to Performance (ATD Press, November 2025).
“I will be sharing my L&D AI Ecosystem framework as a practical road map for integrating AI into the day-to-day work of TD professionals,” Cavalier noted. “I’m excited to partner with ATD’s world-class Education team to help the global community of professionals skill up in this critical area,” he added.
Tony Bingham, ATD president and CEO, concurred with Cavalier on the importance of bringing this course to the TD community. “This is critical time for professionals in our field to learn how to harness the power of AI,” he said. “The TD field has an unprecedented opportunity to transform the way people learn and increase the efficiency and performance of their teams and organizations.”
The Applying AI in Learning and Development Certificate program will be offered four times in 2025. The first program will be held at the ATD Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia, October 20-22. To enhance the learning experience, every program registrant will receive a hard copy of Cavalier’s new book. Seating will be limited and advanced registration is required. Additional program offerings will be scheduled for 2026.
