Michaël Bentolila from InsideBoard discusses about the importance of data and AI in HRTech industry and how they play a crucial role at digital workplaces.
1. Tell us about your role at InsideBoard?
I’m the CEO of InsideBoard I co-founded with my brother, Yohan, CTO 6 years ago. Together with our teams and our first clients we created the 1st AI platform for Change Management dedicated to encouraging user adoption, ongoing team performance and corporate transformation success.
2. Can you tell us about your journey into this market?
I’m an expert in the field of consulting and change management. After working for seventeen years in a number of major consultancy firms, I came to the conclusion that led to the founding of InsideBoard: most transformation projects fail due to a lack of ongoing, long-term employee support.
The past 6 years of fast growth have been reinforcing our vision: to succeed in their digital transformation companies must reinvent themselves using individual potential to boost collective transformation and leveraging the power of digital.
3. How do you think technology is upgrading HR sector?
Technology can definitely helps HR to transform their role and solve the employee engagement issues. The epidemic has revealed the vital role of the technology in maintaining and supporting remote working. This unprecedented situation can therefore be an opportunity for HR professionals to make good use of new technologies and accelerate their digital transformation to ensure the well-being, motivation and engagement of your employees, wherever they work.
4. How has data-driven approach empowered HR professionals?
In the past, HR professionals relied on past practices based on experience or intuition, with no scientific or objective evidence. Today, thanks to the digital technologies, AI in particular, they have the opportunity to collect and analyse employee usage and behavioural data from multiple sources. HR professionals are thus increasingly able to recruit, train, motivate, drive performance and retain their employees in a scientific and analytic way based on objective HR data.
5. Can you explain how integration of AI has enhanced change management solutions?
Artificial Intelligence is what drives digital change. It is fueled quite simply by data. By mass-processing data hitherto untapped by the company, Artificial Intelligence helps to understand each employee and guide them through the process of change successfully. Thus the right content is recommended to the right person at the right time. With a digital platform like InsideBoard, based on unique AI algorithms, everyone working at the company progresses both individually and collectively, and the result is a successful transformation project.
6. Considering the present pandemic situation, what are your predictions about the future of digital workplace?
In these uncertain times, the human capital is —now more than ever—at the center of the challenges companies face today and in the future. Switching to remote working and coordinating remote teams involves more than just a change in operating mode. Companies no longer have any choice: they must revolutionize their approach to change management if they want to sustain. They will have to focus on engaging their employees, massively and remotely, in their digital transformation and develop their skills. We already observe an acceleration in our customer digitization projects.

8. What advice would you like to give to the technology Start Ups?
The main advice I would give is about building out a partner strategy.
You have many opportunities, many ways to go. But it is crucial to be focused because you don’t have many resources.
Even if you raised money, money goes very fast. For example, your product team needs to create a great product for the right use case and reach product-market-fit. If you are close to your ecosystem, you will understand faster what is the best product for your market.
Your time and your resources are precious: the best advice I have is really to choose and invest in your ecosystem.
