Job candidates interviewed with the Anna AI digital recruiter are more likely to get a job offer, show up for their new job, and have higher retention, according to a large-scale study conducted by TP Specialized Services subsidiary PSG Global Solutions (PSG) in collaboration with Dr. Brian Jabarian, economist at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business1. The first-of-its-kind study tackled the impact of AI recruiters on hiring outcomes, revealing significant benefits for both job candidates and employers.
“What we found from data in our large-scale study was that Anna AI can match human recruiters in conducting job interviews — a complex but key task in hiring — while preserving candidate satisfaction, maintaining smooth operations, and improving hiring efficiency and early retention,” said Dr. Jabarian, economist at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business1 and the study’s principal investigator. “The AI agent also captured more job-relevant information and logged it in a standardized format, enriching the data pipeline for even more informed hiring decisions.”
The study also revealed candidates’ growing comfort with AI in the hiring process, with 78% of job candidates having chosen the Anna AI digital recruiter when given the option.
The findings were based on a data set of over 70,000 job candidate interviews across 48 roles in healthcare, IT, and industrial sectors in a head-to-head comparison of human-led interviews, AI recruiter-led interviews conducted by PSG’s Anna AI digital recruiter, and candidates’ choice between the two. The result: PSG’s Anna AI recruiter outperformed traditional human-led interviews across nearly every key hiring metric — improving outcomes, boosting candidate engagement, and increasing operational efficiency in high-volume environments.
“At PSG, we are dedicated to redefining recruitment through innovation, and this groundbreaking study validates the transformative power of our Anna AI digital recruiter,” said Dave Bethea, President and CEO of PSG, a leading provider of Recruitment Process Outsourcing. “This milestone marks a pivotal shift toward data-driven decision-making across the talent acquisition value chain, setting a new standard for high-volume hiring. By blending human expertise with AI-powered precision, we’re not only enhancing hiring outcomes for our clients but also delivering a more equitable, efficient, and engaging experience for job candidates.”
Key findings from the study include:
- 12% more job offers to candidates who interviewed with the AI recruiter. Candidates interviewed by the Anna AI recruiter were evaluated more positively than those interviewed by human recruiters, resulting in a 9.73% job offer rate from Anna AI-led interviews vs. an 8.70% offer rate from human-led interviews.
- 18% more candidates who were interviewed by Anna AI started their job. 6.62% of candidates interviewed by PSG’s Anna AI started the jobs they were offered, compared to 5.63% of candidates from human-led interviews.
- 17% higher retention among candidates who interviewed with the AI recruiter. One month after starting, employees who originally interviewed with Anna AI were more likely to still be employed (5.42% vs. 4.62%).
- Higher interview quality. Anna AI consistently extracted more information from job candidates, covering a median of 9 topics per interview compared with five for human -led interviews. This also suggests a more consistent and thorough interview process.
- Lower reports of gender discrimination. Reported gender discrimination dropped by nearly half, comprising 3.3% of interviews with Anna AI vs. 5.98% with human-led interviews.
- Long-term cost savings. PSG’s Anna AI recruiter was proven to be cost effective quickly, even in low-income markets. Estimated break-even occurred after just 8,500 interviews in lower-cost environments.
The study is part of a multi-year research collaboration between TP’s PSG Global Solutions and Dr. Brian Jabarian, the Howard and Nancy Marks Fellow and Principal Researcher at the Roman Family Center for Decision Research at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business1, that aims to study how AI transforms the entire operational chain value in RPO and related BPO services.
Scalable, Human-Led, AI-Powered Recruitment for End-to-End Hiring
PSG’s Anna AI digital recruiter supports the full recruitment lifecycle — from screening to scheduling, interviewing, and onboarding. It is designed to conduct interviews autonomously, understand natural language (including tone and intent), and tailor conversations to each candidate’s profile, in order to achieve a consistently high-quality, engaging experience for every applicant.
PSG’s Anna AI digital recruiter formally launched earlier this year as part of TP’s new strategic ‘Future Forward’ initiative, which focuses on bringing together human expertise with advanced AI technology to create new business opportunities for the company.
