SmartMoving, the profitability platform built for the moving industry, announced today that Bill Bowles has been named CEO. Founder and former CEO Tobe Thompson is moving into a full-time Board role where he will help lead strategy, brand, partnerships, and enterprise growth.
The change comes during SmartMoving’s strongest year to date. The company has launched four major products – Smart Reputation, Smart Insights, Smart Marketing, and Smart Scout – in the last 12 months and continues its mission to help moving companies grow their profit margins and reclaim their time. Thousands of movers now rely on SmartMoving to run their operations in one connected system.
“We are executing at a level few companies ever reach,” said Bowles. “This year alone we have delivered more new products, grown faster, and helped more movers transform their businesses than in any prior year. We’re so proud of that, but we are also just getting started.”
Bowles has served as SmartMoving’s CFO and COO for the past three years. He brings deep operational knowledge and a strong connection to the product and customer experience. As CEO, he will lead the company’s next phase of growth.

Thompson, who founded SmartMoving, will remain an active leader in the company’s future. He will be an active Board member and will continue working closely with customers and the SmartMoving executive team.
