Gary Godin, Sean McCartney Appointed to Head Pacific Life Workforce Unit

Pacific Life today announced that Gary Godin and Sean McCartney have been promoted to senior vice presidents and appointed to jointly lead Pacific Life’s Workforce Benefits business.

Mr. Godin joined Pacific Life in 2022 to lead workforce benefits operations, claims delivery and transformation initiatives. He has more than 20 years of experience in employee benefits, including health and retirement, with Unum and New York Life Group Benefit Solutions. Mr. McCartney joined Pacific Life in 2024 as head of workforce benefits distribution. He was previously with Principal Financial Group® where he spent 22 years in numerous distribution leadership roles within group benefits and individual disability.

Erich Sternberg, who joined Pacific Life in 2022 to lead the company’s entry into the employee benefits market, will step away from his role as head of Workforce Benefits on Sept. 3, 2025. Under his leadership, the business moved swiftly from a startup to an organization with a strong operational foundation delivering a category-differentiating experience to its clients.
