Robin Simplifies Hybrid Work Policy Compliance

More than two-thirds of businesses are now requiring workers to be in the office two to three days a week, creating management challenges for employers and compliance challenges for employees

Robin, the leading hybrid workplace experience company, today launched a new set of features to its software platform that empower employers and employees to have more visibility into setting and complying with company hybrid work policies. As companies are moving away from remote work – according to LinkedIn data, remote work positions on the platform dropped to 14 percent in October 2022 after being at a high of 20 percent in April 2022 – and towards hybrid work, a new set of challenges have emerged for employees and employers. Setting expectations for the amount of time hybrid employees should spend in the office, and ensuring those policies are met is the new frontier for hybrid work.

As every company determines what workplace strategy is best for it and its employees, three models have emerged: fully flexible, in which employees can come and go at their choosing; structured hybrid, in which employees are required to be in the office based on parameters set by the employer; and fully on-site. With the new functionality, Robin enables employers and employees alike to embrace – and measure – any of these hybrid work strategies.

“The slow march back to the office that we saw in 2021 and 2022 is accelerating as companies fine-tune their hybrid work strategies and realize that in-person work is an important component of building a collaborative and productive work environment,” Micah Remley, CEO, Robin, said. “The reality is that there is no blueprint for hybrid work strategies, no right or wrong. Some organizations want to offer total flexibility, while others want more consistent office usage. It’s our goal to support any approach our customers choose and provide the tools to manage hybrid work, which is why we’re delivering this industry first to the market today. Adherence to in-office mandates should not be a headache for employers and employees.”

As companies increasingly set expectations for in-office time, while still offering employees flexibility, an emerging challenge has been for employees to fully understand their company’s hybrid work policy and see if they are meeting it. The new hybrid work policy feature released by Robin, which is the first of its kind in the workplace experience market, allows both employers to set in-office policies and for employees to understand if they are meeting them.

In the Robin platform, administrators can set the company’s hybrid work policy, including any combination of days per week or month expected in the office, frequency, optional vs mandatory, etc. Employees can see the policies on the Robin homepage and quickly determine if they are on track to meeting the requirements or not. This transparency between employees and employers is one of the cornerstones of Robin’s mission to empower human connections in order to create high-performance organizations.

These new capabilities allow employees to maintain flexibility in their schedules while allowing employers to clearly create and manage policies related to hybrid work.

In addition to the new features, Robin also released proprietary research today about productivity and proximity in the hybrid workforce. The report, Productivity and Proximity in the Hybrid Workplace, found that more than 60 percent of employers remain optimistic that there will be an increase in attendance in 2023 and more than two-thirds are already requiring employees to be in the office two or three days per week.
