HRTech Interview with Lisa Nadler, Chief Human Resources Officer, Integral Ad Science

Integral Ad Science

Lisa Nadler, the Chief Human Resources Officer at Integral Ad Science talks about the top technology trends in HR for 2022 and beyond.

1. What did your childhood look like? Moving forward how did you get into HR?
I grew up in a suburb outside of New York City, as the middle of three children. Both my mother and father worked full time throughout my childhood, and encouraged me to strive for whatever I wanted while reminding me to never limit myself. My strengths in school were in STEM and I graduated from Lehigh University with a double degree in Engineering and Mathematics. I started my career as an actuary and later switched into finance. Then, about 15 years ago I decided that I wanted to have more of an impact, especially on the people around me. Following this passion, I got into HR by using my analytical skills, specifically focusing on operations and compensation. I eventually worked my way up to Chief Human Resources Officer, while continuing to believe that there are no barriers to what I or anyone can achieve.

2. Could you tell us more about IAS and how does your typical day at work look like?
At IAS I do not have a typical day, and that is part of what I love about it. My days are filled with meetings and time with my team, my colleagues, and IAS employees. I focus on creating an environment that is inclusive, and implementing programs and processes that create high-performing and sustainable teams.

3.What makes Integral Ad Science unique? How does it stand out from its competitors?
IAS stands out from other tech companies because of our incredible employees and the inclusive culture we have built. We have so many dedicated Employee Resources Groups (ERGs), with heavy participation from all levels of the company. It’s a great way for employees to connect with one another and feel accepted within a large global company.

4. What excites you most about your industry?
We are living in a “digital-first lifestyle.” This means there is a growing number of consumers who spend their time engaging in social platforms or streaming content. As our digital footprint continues to grow, IAS will have the opportunity to partner with brands, publishers, and marketers to help verify the quality of that media. We have only just begun to tap into our potential to grow, and I can’t wait to see where we end up.

5. In these changing times, what are your priorities as a CHRO? How do you manage to stay relevant in such a fast-paced industry?
In today’s work environment people have a lot of choices.

As a global remote workforce, individuals not only have the choice of what industry or what company they want to work for, but of where they want to work from as well.

As an employer we are laser-focused on making sure we offer a rewarding, competitive, and collaborative set of employee programs and opportunities so that IAS remains an attractive place to work for.

6. Could you tell us more about your work culture, and what makes IAS’s culture unique?
IAS has six core values that we stand by: Accountability, Customer-Obsession, Bias for Action, Do the Right Thing, Innovation, and One Team. We make sure every IAS employee lives these values, and that they aren’t just company buzz words. We actively engage our core values in daily communication and employee programs. At IAS “We Are One Team” means everyone is empowered and expected to bring their authentic self to work each day.

7.  What according to you are the top technology trends in HR for 2022 and beyond?
Companies need to embrace that remote and hybrid work are here to stay. We need to continually innovate so that a virtual working experience is just as rewarding as an in-person experience. I also think the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will take the subjectivity out of performance management and productivity, and will even enhance the recruitment process in regards to analysing resumes. AI could even be used to predict employee engagement and burnout so that we can step in to prevent turnover.

8. What is the most significant piece of advice you would want to give to company leaders?
In order to succeed, you have to build a strong team around you, and then place the proper trust in them to succeed.

9.  Which motivational quote drives you to achieve more at work?
“The only limits you face are those you impose on yourself.”
